I'm a gamer and I want to upgrade my processor. I've only found one suitable option: it's a refurbished Core 2 Duo E7400 @ 2.8 GHz LGA 775. The price is quite attractive , about $54(the currency in my country is neither dollar or euro, I had to translate it to dollars based on the latest exchange rate).
The question is: will this make games run better? The most resource-consuming games that I play are Grand Theft Auto IV and Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II, both with minimum settings. For both of them, the recommended processor clock speed is 2.4 GHz, while I have a Pentium Dual Core @ 2.5 GHz. However, when I play TFU2 and there's too much action going on, I sometimes experience frame rate drops. GTA 4 runs better, but there's still a little room for improvement(although, I've heard that it runs best on 4 cores, such as Core 2 Quad). Other than that, these two games run relatively well. Will that Core 2 Duo improve their performance even more? It has has faster clock speed than my current processor, but I can't be sure.
Specs:
