i7 7700hq vs i7 8550u

Hi all,

 

I am looking into switching from a MacBook Pro Retina i5 to a Windows Laptop, but I needed some help clarifying which i7 processor would be more powerful: the i7-7700hq or the i7-8550u.

These are the specs I found for the processors:

7th Gen i7 (7700 HQ)      -->     2.8 GHz and upto 3.8 GHz

8th Gen i7 (8550 U)         -->     1.8 GHz and upto 4.0 GHz

 

So when compared to 7th Gen i7, the 8th Gen i7 is slower in performance?

I understand that the 8th Gen is the ultra efficient model, but both of these are quad core, and the 8th gen has a higher clock speed, but a lower base speed. I am a student, and my main type of work is multiple Excel and Word documents open as well as several Chrome tabs. I am also starting Computer Science classes, in which coding will be required. Additionally, I am conducting genetic research and need something that can handle multiple Excel files with 20,000 rows.

 

The two laptops I'm looking into are the HP Spectre x360 15 in (8th gen) and the Razer Blade (7th gen). The price difference between the two is not substantial, hence, I would like to buy a laptop with better performance.

BrandString Test Fail??

I have recently just upgraded my e8400 to q8400 and when i do the IDPT test the Brandstring fials pleas help me and my computer thinks its a dual core but its a aquad     

 

Specs

Intel Core 2 quad q8400 2.6 ghz

2gb Ram

Windows 7 Pro

80 gb HDD

Gt 710(bit over kill)

 

How do i fix?

does spiking of temperature of i7 7700k in 100 degree celcius in idle mode is not alarming?

My Motherboard is MSI B250M Mortar I also have a Kingston HyperX Fury 4GB 2400mhz and MSI GTX 1060 gaming x 6GB GPU my cooling system is Cooler Master Blizzard T2.. I have noticed that the processor`s temp is getting 100 degree celcius even im not doing enything except going in Bios.. I know this is not normal and I want to prevent a potential CPU overheating so if it is possible, help and reply on this message ASAP.. Thanks in advance.

DMI - Intel oem structures?

Hi Everyone!

I have been recently poking around with the smbios spec to write my own DMI decoder (just for pure fun of it) and at the point when I've started to look at the OEM-specific data, I noticed that there's a couple of structures pointing at Intel's proprietary stuff. Here are examples:

Now, I am not sure about the last one, but 130-0 131-0 clearly have some ascii codes in the structure which point at Intel's vPRO|AMT technologies (though 131-1 is second instance of the same type, thus should be Intel's as well).

 

My question here would be, if there's any documentation available which covers above structures (Assuming that those are indeed Intel's ) so it could be used as a reference and map for getting some more useful data about given components.

 

The above was taken from T420 ThinkPad Lenovo Laptop with EC: 1.20, BIOS: 1.46 (83ET76WW), SMBIOS: 2.6, spinning on Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2520M CPU @ 2.50GHz. Let me know if you would need some additional info to look into this.

E5-2620 socket compatibility

I recently bought a "HP BL460c Gen E5-2620 v4" server and an additional "E5-2620 v4" processor. My problem is that the processor doesn't look compatible with the server. The server appears to have a LGA2011 socket and the processor looks to have a LGA2011-3 pin layout, are they compatible?

 

I have booted the server with its single processor and it clearly states that it has detected a E5-2620 V4 processor, did you ever make a "E5-2620 v4" for socket 2011?

Salve,

ho installato i driver USB 3.0 extensible-0100 nel mio portatile che ha Windows 8.1 Pro.

Da quel momento ho problemi alle USB e anche se disinstallo i drivers al riavvio me li reinstalla e non riesco a tornare ai drivers nativi di Win 8.1. Qualcuno ha idea di come posso risolvere il problema? Grazie.

Problem with i5 4600 video driver

Hello,

i have a problem with driver for Intel core i5 4440 integrated graphics (4600).

System Windows 8.1 x64

3 days ago when computer normaly work, the screen turned off and write "No signal, check connection" (LG 23EA53).

I reboot, at first normal load, but after load screen i see "No signal.."

I launched PC on safe mode, trying understand what happen, didn't found and did recovery using system image on disk . He launched in normal mode. I think that all gone, but can't watch video or playing games, it's was like picture.

I went Control panel-> Device manager and look what driver i have on Video adapter, it was Basic video adapter(Microsoft), i understand that driver for 4600 crashed.

I went on this site and found Intel Driver & Support assistant(Intel DSA), download, and it recommended me update Basic video adapter, i accept, download, and when installing end i see one more time "No signal..". Restore to Basic adapter from safe mode.

Already try update to Windows 10, inside instalation it automatically update drivers and "No signal..", backup.

At 3 day i give up and ask you to help me find possible sollutions.. Thank you.

I'm attempting to update my graphics driver, but when the update nears completion an error pops up stating that a fatal error has occurred. How can I solve this?

 

The log error that it displays is attached.

 

 

Please try to keep it in laymans terms. I have absolutely no idea what any of this means.

I219-V 22.7.1 Ethernet Drivers not installing

This is tearing me apart mentally.

 

An issue arose yesterday where my Internet was permanently listed as 'Limited', I've tried everything to right it, I've uninstalled & reinstalled Drivers (Despite the question,) I've used command prompts to flush my IP & DNS. It turned out my issue was because my Drivers were outdated.

 

Now for the annoying part-

 

No matter which version of the Network Adapter Driver I install, it always reverts to version 12.15.22.6 from April last year, the installation instructions are pointless at this point as nothing changes, I need to be pointed in the right direction before I take my PC in to get looked at.

 

I just want to get my work done, it should not be this hard to fix such a minute problem.

 

The problem with my Ethernet started yesterday after I gave Administrator access to my Normal PC account, after that Windows Apps kept requesting an Internet Connection to work, it baffled me as I was currently on YouTube as I let it load, I looked to my bottom right corner to see that my Ethernet icon had disappeared, turns out my Internal IP & DNS had disappeared & my PC doesn't know what to do with itself as it keeps listing version 12.15.22.6 as the most recent version of the Driver (in the pic I provide below.)

Win 2003 Driver issues

Have an issue with a private label, remote win2003 server where it lists two devices with yellow question marks, namely

PCI device  and SM Bus controller

Both show uninstalled drivers which do not appear available on Intel either.

These are:

PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1C02&SUBSYS_1C028086&REV_05\3&11583659&0&FA

PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1C22&SUBSYS_1C228086&REV_05\3&11583659&0&FB

Intel Celeron N2840 Driver for Windows 7?

I recently installed Windows 7 Pro onto a Lenovo Flex 3 2-in-1. The processor is an Intel Celeron N2840. All drivers loaded except those for:

 

Intel Atom/Celeron Pentium Processor Serial IO I2C Port 1 0F41

GPIO Controller

 

Lenovo does not offer a W7 download for this. Currently the CPU works fine but I am without USB support. When I scanned the system from your site it says the system is up-to-date. I downloaded what I think is the correct driver from your site:

 

Intel Atom E3800 Win7 IO Drivers 64Bit.msi

 

When I try to run, it processes and installs and then performs a rollback at the end saying the operation was interrupted. I repeated the installation and the same kept happening. Am  I using the correct file? I read the pdf and am not using the SD, so I suppose I am on step 4 e. Can someone help me?

install older drivers from command line

We have an issue with the latest intel wireless drivers (v19.71.1.1) and need to install a wireless driver from v19.20.3.  The current installer will not allow an older version to be installed (Wireless_v19.20.3_PROset64_Win10.exe).  Understandable, since the PROset would be v19.20.3.

 

What I need is a method to export the drivers from the exe "installer" and add them into the Windows 10 driver repository.  Windows 10 requires "signed" drivers so simply exporting the drivers from a Windows 10 device is not possible.  "PNPUtil" can be used if a "signed driver" set can be either exported or downloaded.

 

Knowns

--------------------------------------------

Windows 10 Enterprise (x64)

intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 8260

intel PROset64 v19.71.1.1

Drivers:  v19.71.1.1, v19.70.0.0, v19.60.0.0 (install from v19.71.1.1 EXE).

 

What I am currently doing is uninstalling all of v19.71.1.1, installing package v19.20.3.4, running the update from Microsoft, updates send the version back to v19.71.1.1, (or force the update from intel "Wireless_v19.71.1_PROset64_Win10.exe") do a driver rollback to v19.70.0.0, then force the driver to v19.20.3.4.  Note:  Drivers included in the v19.20.3 include:  v19.20.3.4 and v19.1.0.4).  At this point, since the PROset software is v19.71.1, Windows update is satisfied that the correct software and driver are correct, no Windows update, no change in driver version.

NUC5CPYB : drivers windows 7

Hi

I try to install W7 on my NUC5CPYB. I can't install W7 actually because my keyboard is not recognize due to USB 3.0.

I follow the steps to add drivers but it does not work...

During the mounting, the systm block "cleaning up and mounting" during hours..

How can I install W7 on my computer ?

je cherche à installer W7 sur mon NUC5CPYB. Dans l'install je suis bloquée du fait de la non prise en charge de l'USB 3.0.

J'ai donc suivi la procédure décrite pour ajouter les drivers nécessaires, mais cela ne fonctionne pas.

Au moment du montage, cela s'arrête sur "Cleaning up and mounting..." et cela ne s'arrête jamais.

Comment puis je faire pour installer W7 ?

Intel Dynamic Application Loader Update?

I was update  an Intel product. When I reached the end of the load, I was sent to an Intel site which read:

"If you have reached this web page, you have probably installed a new Intel management Engine (INTEL ME) software that requires the installation of an additional software application the support the following:

Intel Identity Protection Technology.

Intel Dynamic Application Loader"

 

I am a consumer client and went to the site to get the Intel IPT Detection Assistant Tool.  Before I could get to the download, my computer screen that had the DriverUpdate I was using showed that it was installing "Intel NUC Kit D54250WYK Intel Management Engine Driver".  At the same time the DriverUpdate displayed a question: Did I want to restart my computer now.

 

I'm confused as to what is being downloaded.  It has been running quite a while but has not completed the download.  Should I cancel the download and restart my computer?

i7-4790k cannot work on asus Z87M-PLUS

I bought i7-4790k.

 

It cannot use on Asus Z87M-PLUS(bios updated).

 

There are no signal to monitor. It cannot go into bios.

 

But I change it back to i5-4670. It still work.

Intel® Driver & Support Assistant takes me to broken web page

I updated from the old driver update utility to the new Driver & Support Assistant.

 

When I run it, it brings up a browser page that contains a bunch of broken links, broken images, and barely any content.  Nothing happens on it.

 

I am warned that the SSL Cert for the page is invalid.

 

I am warned by the browser that dangerous scripts are on the page.

 

I have tried this in Chrome, Firefox and IE - ALL of them report problems with your web page.

 

I have deactivated any AntiVirus, etc. software, but this still occurs.

 

WHAT IN THE WORLD IS WRONG WITH YOUR SOFTWARE?

 

The old software worked fine.  This new program, with its reliance on an apparently broken web page, is completely and entirely unusable.

 

What's going on here?

Hi,

 

I've been having an issue that has been occurring ever since I noticed my Intel graphics software updated and so I assume it's related.

 

The problem is when I put my computer to sleep and then after I wake it up I get a white screen with colored vertical line on it. I have to force shutdown and then restart and it's fine until the next time.

 

I have an Acer Aspire R5-471T running windows 10.

 

An Intel Core i5-6200U with Intel HD graphics 520.

 

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
