Using the driver and support assistant, I engage the scan of my laptop, it shows three updates, so I click the install downloads button -- but nothing happens. A window pops up that reads: immediate reboot of your system is required. What does that even mean, and why won't the install continue? Appreciate the help!

TPM for Motherboard S2600CW2R
I was informed the motherboard is an Intel MB-2600 CW2R (S2600CW2R)
Here is the System Information from the BIOS
System Information taken from the BIOS
Board Part #: H12881-270
Serial #: FWCT62510649
BMC Firmware Revision: 1.43.9685
ME Firmware Revision: 03.01.03.021
SDR Revision: SDR Package D1.13
UUID: 1AF68680376411E68000A4BF0108E034
The Motherboard did not come with a TPM Chip Installed. The Goal is to run Bitlocker on this Server 2016.
Problem - the only Encryption the backup software (Axcient) can work with is the recent Bitlocker software ...
Questions:
Will this MB run the TPM 2.0 Chip or can it only use the TPM 1.2 chip?
If TPM 2.0 will work on this Motherboard - what is part number ?
- OR -
Does the TPM 1.2 chip work with the latest BitLocker?
What is the part number for the TPM 1.2 chip for this MB (where do I get it)?
I assuming I will need to do a Firmware upgrade - I understand this firmware upgrade(s) is not as straight forward as they have been in the past ….
I have done considerable research and feel I know less know than when I started … I know that is not true - but I found a lot of, I believe, closely related information,
gaps in what is needed or not needed or will not work or work 'If"
Thank you

Help! Clarification on Intel Management Engine Interface components
Hardware
System Dell XPS 8700 Bios A13, SMBIOS 2.7, HAL "10.0.17134.1", System BIOS Version: 64.13
Motherboard: DELL 0KWVT8, Chipset: Intel Z87 (Lynx Point),
Intel Core i7-4790, Step C0, Codename Haswell-DT Refresh, SSPEC: SR1QF
Inspectre reports CPUID: 306C3 and Meltdown Protected YES Spectre protected YES, Microcode update available YEs CPUID: 306C3
OS Microsoft Windows 10 Home (x64) Build 17134.165 (1803/RS4)
Questions.
1) In NO IMEI documentation regarding the IME or the Microcode updates can I find reference to i7-4790 or Z87 (Lynx Point), or Haswell-DT Refresh.
Some driver software indicates "Intel Xeon E3 1200 v3 4th generation" but this could refer to supporting components.
A CPUID of 306C3 is reported by Gibson Research Inspectre utility this does point me to what I believe to be the correct processor group,
?? Is the CPUID all I need to identify my CPU for updates and is always valid
2) I reloaded the Dell chipset drivers Intel 8 Series Chipset Driver v10.1.1.7 (A00) June 27, 2015
and the Dell IMEI driver Intel AMT HECI Driver 11.0.0.1153 and then let windows update to version
11.7.0.1045. Also installed KB4100347: Intel microcode update based on CPUID of 306C3. Then went
through drivers on Device Manger and updated anything I thought remotely applicable
?? Is there additional software that IME is dependent upon and what services are involved.
?? I see mention of INF updates but assume must be part of chipset update as can find none for my XPS 8700
3) The Intel Management Engine Interface always fails upon install. Many, Many posts on this problem no solutions.
Driver STATUS: This device cannot start. (Code 10) STATUS_DEVICE_POWER_FAILURE
EVENT LOG: Intel(R) Management Engine Interface driver has failed to perform handshake with the Firmware
(FWSTS0: 0x1E000042, FWSTS1: 0x60002106).
This is preceeded by an information STATUS: The Intel(R) Management Engine Interface is being reset.
The acutal problem (status 10) appears to be the fact that it can not interface with the firmware.
My last bios upgrade failed indicating it could not communicate (but appears to have installed correctly)
with the ME firmware. Bios Versions A12 and A13 came out this spring (last prev updated 2015) both bios updates appear
to be related to Spectre. I know I did not have this problem prior to April for sure and I believe the IME problem started with the bios updates.
The HWINFO utility reports under SMBIOS DME/Intel vPro:
Intel ME status: Enabled, Intel ME Version: v9.1, Build 1006, Hotfix 26, BIOS ME Support: Not Supported.
??Should IMEI work on my system when I have NO BIOS ME Support?
??Currently have disabled since not running anyway. Can I leave it disabled without causing problems otherwise slow boots as attempts to reload IME drives..
??Is there any possibility incorrect configuration could be causing this type of problem.
Also a quick block overview of the IME relation ship between components (BIOS, FIRMWARE, MICROCODE) would be appreciated.
Thanks in Advance

How do I uninstall Intel Driver & Support Assistant?
When I start up my Dell computer I get a message from IDSA saying I have 3 updates to install. When I click on the message IDSA opens and tells me a newer version of IDSA is required and that I must upgrade to the latest version to continue (see Attachment), and I understand that I must uninstall my existing version of IDSA in order to download and install the current release. Unfortunately I am unable to do this. When I go to the list of Programs in the Windows 10 Control Panel IDSA is not a listed program. But when I look in the C:\Program Files (x86) folder I can see a folder called Intel Driver and Support Assistant that appears to contain all the all the files supporting IDSA. However for some reason it does not appear in the Programs list. When I click Start/Intel and right click on Driver & Support Assistant/Uninstall, I am taken to the Control Panel listing of Programs but as indicated above, IDSA is not on that list. So ... back to square 1.
The files in the C:\Program files (x86)\Intel Driver and Support Assistant folder include one called DSA Service.exe and out of curiosity I clicked on it. I was taken to a command line window with the following message "Windows Service Start Failure - Cannot start service from the command line or a debugger. A Windows Service must first be installed (using installutil.exe). and then started with the ServerExplorer, Windows Services Administrative tool or the NET START command". Interestingly the C:\Program Files (without the x86) folder also contains a folder called Intel Driver and Support Assistant but it has nothing in it.
I looked for solutions to this problem across the internet including this forum, but all related strings that I found terminate unresolved with no solution. The IDSA program is clearly still on my machine because I can see it and its constituent files in the Program files (x86) folder, and according to Intel I must uninstall it before I can install the new version. So if Intel or anyone else has any idea how I can make it reappear in the Programs list or otherwise uninstall it I would be extremely grateful for any advice.
Several months ago I asked for advice on the same problem on this forum and was advised to uninstall IDSA through the Win 10 Control Panel utility and download/install the new IDSA version, and I did that and it worked ... then. So at that time anyway IDSA did appear on the Programs list. But now, for some reason it now longer does so I am unable to follow this earlier advice.

iaStorAVC.sys causing pauses every four seconds
My PC is a Dell Studio XPS435mt. The primary drive is an SSD; the second drive is an HDD. The PC ran Windows 7 ... and then Windows 10 (up to 1709) ... very well. Since installing the Windows 10 1803 update, every four seconds the PC makes a buzzing/stuttering sound whenever audio is playing ... and the mouse cursor pauses if it's being moved. I formatted my SSD and installed a fresh copy of 1803 but the problem is still present -- so it's not an issue with upgrading from 1709 to 1803; it's a problem with something in 1803.
LatencyMon identified storport.sys ("Microsoft Storage Port Driver") as having a very high execution time—every four seconds. After much time/research and much help from Windows 10 experts (see my thread at Windows 10 Help Forums) and UIforETW, it was determined that 1803 uses iaStorAVC.sys ("Intel Chipset SATA RAID Controller" -- v15.44.0.1010) to interface with storport.sys ... and 1709 uses iaStorAV.sys ("Intel(R) Desktop/Workstation/Server Express Chipset SATA RAID Controller" -- v13.44.0.1026) to interface with storport.sys. The conclusion of the matter is that when 1803 / iaStorAVC.sys is running, the latency issue occurs ... and that when 1709 / iaStorAV.sys is running, the latency issue does not occur.
In 1803 Device Manager there is no other applicable SATA driver for me to select. With the help of the above thread, I used Device Manager to replace “Intel Chipset SATA RAID Controller" (iaStorAVC.sys) with 1709's “Intel(R) Desktop/Workstation/Server Express Chipset SATA RAID Controller” (iaStorAV.sys). The issue went away! (“Intel(R) Desktop/Workstation/Server Express Chipset SATA RAID Controller” is not digitally signed; to install it, I had to temporarily disable Windows 10 driver signature enforcement. This is obviously not a satisfactory solution; worse, I figure Windows will try to update/replace the driver at some point ... and then the issue will re-appear.)
How can I make Intel aware of this so as to have 1803's iaStorAVC.sys fixed/updated? Please let me know if there is a more appropriate place to post this. Thanks!
Intel Support Assistant Blocked - no answers in FAQ
Trying to update Intel graphics drivers.
Get directed to Intel DSA web page which presents me with a big red banner telling me that Support Assistant is being blocked and referring me to the FAQs.
As instructed, I viewed the FAQs and found NOTHING relevant.
After a further read of the FAQs, and finding nothing relevant again, I made another desperate attempt to download the SA software and SUCCEEDED!
Just to make sure I wasn't dreaming, I downloaded a second copy of the utility.
I installed copy #1 OK, and ran it, watched the rotating 'I'm doing something' indicator for a couple of seconds before leaving the room for a much needed cup of tea.
On my return to the PC, I have another big red banner saying 'Oops, something went wrong while trying to scan. Please try again, or see our FAQs for help.'
So I read the FAQ's again; just for spiritual guidance, you understand.
I Installed copy #2 OK, and watched it for about 30 seconds when it reported the same 'oops' message
I note that others have the same problem, (evidently not the only problem for at least one of them), and would like to ask, very politely, if there is a solution (to the 'oops' problem).
I can provide the output of SSU.exe if required.
I would be most grateful to receive advice from the loyal followers of Intel.
Your obedient servant,
Stuart
How to get audio to go through HDMI for Skyrim SE
Hi,
My name is Cameron. I have been playing Skyrim Special Edition for a couple of years now and a reoccurring issue I've had is when I plug a monitor into my laptop via HDMI, the video will play, put there won't be any audio. I have found a temporary work around by setting my laptop speakers as the default audio device and have the audio play through my laptop (this also works with speakers connected connected via aux or bluetooth if set to the default audio device). This however is very inconvenient. I had put off finding a solution to this problem as I was previously using a laptop that I was planning to upgrade from, but the problem consists with my new laptop as well. The problem occurs whether I install mods to the game or not. When doing some research, many were saying this was a intel/windows 10 issue. Please help.
Attached is a scan of my current laptops specs.
Disable MDC/MDIO on 82580
Hello,
in our hardware Intel 82580 Ethernet controller connected via SGMII works with Marvell PHY 88E1112. But it expects MDC/MDIO to be connected. I need to get it to work without MDC/MDIO. I2C Enable is a bit in the EEPROM and I tried disabling it but it still tries to read the PHY through MDC/MDIO.
How can I get it to work without MDC/MDIO access? 82580 is used with an I7 processor and we are running it with Linux
Intel 535/540 SSDs Fail
Intel 535/540 series SSDs fail on Dell OptiPlex 990 and 9010 PCs after one year of being installed with Win7 32bit. Some will fail to load Windows and eventually display the BSOD, in others the PC will not recognize that a drive is installed. When I load the drive in an external USB Adapter, the drive will not be recognized and can't be accessed an/or is not seen by the Disk Management function of the Computer Management Console.
The SSDs are fine in Dell OptiPlex 3020 PCs and higher.
How to get notifications from replies to questions
I've looked around my dashboard but i don't see where I can get notified of an update or reply to my questions.
Is there a way to enable this feature?
Thanks
